Thanks for your decision to rent Casa Libra. I hope
your visit will be fun and that you enjoy Casa Libra as much as my family,
friends and I do.
Here are just a few hints and considerations for you. As a suggestion,
print this page and bring it with you.
How do we get to Casa Libra from the Airport?
Upon arrival, obtain a taxi voucher for Colonia Emiliano Zapata, in
Puerto Vallarta’s romantic zone. Give the driver the following
address: MM Dieguez #478-A, near the intersection of Calles MM Dieguez
and Jacarandas.
How do we get keys to Casa Libra?
Upon your arrival at Casa Libra, you will be met by me or an agent (Mercedes Garcia),
who will provide keys and answer any questions about the property. Mercedes
will also collect the keys and inspect the property on your departure day.
What are the payment and cancellation policies?
All reservations require a 50% deposit, at the time of reservation,
payable to the owner. The remaining 50% balance is due 30 days prior
to your arrival date, payable to the owner. If the reservation is
cancelled more than 30 days before your arrival date, a full refund
of the deposit will be made. If the cancellation is less than 30 days
before your arrival date, and the unit can be rented for the cancelled
time period, a full refund will be made. No refund will be made if
the cancellation is less than 30 days before the arrival date and
the unit cannot be re-rented for the cancelled time period.
What are the minimum rooms and nights?
During holiday periods (e.g. Christmas, New Years, Easter), the minimum stay is 7 nights per holiday.
When is check in and check out?
Check out time is 11:00 a.m. check in time is 3:00 p.m. An extension
may be requested one week prior to arrival if needed. You may also
store your luggage at the condominium before or after check in and
check out.
How About Security?
Casa Libra is part of a gated, secure condominium complex. Keep the
house outside gates closed and locked all the time. The main entrance gate
by the mailbox and fountain is to be locked from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m.
daily. If you leave for any reason, close and lock all exterior doors and shutters.
The floor lamp in the living room is on a timer….please leave the timer
running.
How do we use Air Conditioners and Ceiling Fans?
The mini-split air conditioners in the bedrooms operate on remote
controls. Remotes cannot be easily replaced, and a charge will be
made if they are missing. Instructions for using the remote control
are in the bedside table drawer in the guest bedroom. The air conditioners
are always on standby status. Simply power them on (using the blue
power button) and adjust the temperature to your liking (using the
+ or – button). Please close all windows and doors if using
the air conditioners.
Ceiling fans/lights are also controlled by remotes. Each remote is
coded to its individual fan/light…please keep the remote control
in the room where you find it. Again, a charge will be made if remotes
are missing.
How About Maid Service?
Maid service will normally be provided each Friday and on check out.
Blanca Aragon is your maid. She lives across the street from Casa
Libra. Additional maid service can be arranged through Mercedes Garcia
(ph 322-293-7451 or 044-322-779-6291 (cell)) or Blanca, at a small daily charge.
How About Trash Service?
While the maid will remove any trash weekly, please don’t allow
trash or garbage to accumulate in the house, as it may attract ants
and other insects and rodents. Kindly carry your daily garbage to
the large trash bin at the corner of MM Dieguez and Jacarandas (bottom
of the hill); the bin is collected daily by the city.
Are there Telephones?
Feel free to make local calls on the telephones in the bedrooms. There
is a telephone book in the nightstand of the guest bedroom. Long distance
and cell calls are blocked but you can easily purchase calling cards
at nearby convenience stores. These may be used at local pay phones.
What About Internet Service?
A WiFi modem is provided for your convenience. Also, fast internet service is
available at many internet
cafes throughout the city, and within easy walking distance.
Can We Drink the Water?
Potable water is supplied for drinking purposes. The water jugs are
delivered, via truck, several times per week. If additional water
is needed, simply signal the water truck driver (who will blow a whistle
signaling his arrival), that you need a new jug, and trade him the
empty jug (a jug of potable water costs about sixteen pesos). Water
from the taps may be used for brushing teeth, etc., but we recommend
using the potable water for making coffee, ice, etc.
Can We Drink the Beer and Wine in the Condo?
There is cold beer in the refrigerator and bottles of wine in the
kitchen rack. Please feel free to help yourselves, but kindly replace
any you use. Beer bottles are charged a deposit fee at the time of
purchase. Please save any empty beer bottles, which are to be returned
to a beer depository.
Are there Good Restaurants Nearby?
There are many good restaurants within walking distance of Casa
Libra…or within a short bus or taxi ride. Some recommended places
include:
El Brujo, Red Cabbage, Café de Olla, Trios, the
Coffee Cup (great coffee, sandwiches, and desserts). Some of the best
ceviche in town can be bought at a little street stand near the El
Brujo restaurant. Wonderful tacos al pastor are available to go at
a street stand near the church.
Is there a Nearby Food Market?
There is a nice open-air market a couple of blocks from Casa Libra.
Available at the market are fresh fruit and vegetables, breads, meats
and fish, etc. (to walk to this market, go down the hill to Calle
Jacarandas, turn right to Calle Lazaro Cardenas, and right again a
couple of short blocks; the market stores are on the right as you
go east). Also a short walk away is Rezo’s Market (which has
a more extensive selection of food and also a second floor with lots
of hardware, etc.). Other choices include Mega, Gigante,
Wal-Mart, Soriana, and Sam’s (by bus or taxi).
How Far is the Beach?
The beach is a ten or fifteen minute walk from Casa Libra. You can
stroll down Basilio Badillo (down the hill, turn right at Jacarandas
and next left). It’s only six blocks to Calle Olas Altas, which
parallels Playa Los Muertos, Puerto Vallarta’s most popular
beach.
